How
would you describe Playing the Part?
It is a sexy, glamorous, sexy story about an movie star action hero and
a romance novelist heroine who stop hiding behind the roles they play and
stumble into love.
2.
Which
character you had most fun writing?
Mick – the hero was so much fun.
He was a combination of Shemar Moore and Tony Stark in my mind and he
was alternatively cocky, arrogant, sweet and sexy. I loved his over-the-top
personality and the way he took all the Hollywood/Celebrity stuff in stride
because he grew up there.
3.
What
was your main source of inspiration for the story?
I was looking over some celebrity blogs and it occurred to me that the
price of celebrity was pretty high – the media frenzy, the lack of privacy, the
inclination of the public to jump on any celebrity that slips off the pedestal.
I had the thought of exploring how a relationship would grow or fail in that
spotlight and the rest is on the page . . . .

What
should readers expect from Playing the Part?
Great dialogue, glamorous settings, the red carpet, the Oscars, lots of
sexy scenes in bed, on the beach, in a car . . .
5.
What
was the book that most influenced your life — and why?
Oh wow. I have no idea! I have
been a crazy reader my entire life. I
love the wit of Jane Austen, the on-going family saga of Anne of Green Gables,
the humor of Hank Edwards, the heartwarming sexy heroes of Robyn Carr, the
rough and erotic plotlines of Avril Ashton . . . I could go on and on.

If you had to do it all over again, would you
change anything in your book?
I would have named the heroine Robin and given her curly hair . . . oh,
did I say that out loud?
7.
What
are you reading right now?
I’m reading a New Adult novel by C.M. Stunich called “Losing Me, Finding
You.”
8.
Is there a message in your novel that you want
readers to grasp?
I think my books all have the same underlying theme: that no matter who
you are, no matter your past or the past of your family – you can be and do
whatever you want and that everyone deserves to be loved.
9.
How
has your environment/upbringing colored your writing?
I was raised in storytelling,
smartass Southern family and I think it feeds my need to entertain. I also have
a supportive family and I try to weave in the importance of family (genetic or
created) into my books.
10.
When
did you first know you wanted to be a writer?
Since I was little I’ve been
scribbling down stories and tucking them away. A few weeks after my 40th
birthday, I had a close friend die of breast cancer and I realized that I might
not get the “somedays” that I was counting on. I started writing and never
looked back.
